    Vert sub idea.

So I know that the idea of puting a sub in the back was a no-go. I was thinking since my E30 has no armrest, maybe someone could make a 8" sub box that acts like a armrest between the driver and passenger? What do you all think?

I plan on sticking an Infinity BassLink behind the driver seat - self amplified and removeable in a pinch if I need the back seat.

I herd of that plan, but don't those baselinks just sound like factory?

The Basslink actually makes pretty good bass, but it's big and won't let you slide the seat back if you're tall.

For the time being I installed a compact self amplified Lanzar 8 behind the drivers seat. It won't rattle the windows but does OK to give some fill.

In a nutshell, it's junk, but does the job for about $125.

Well I have a 8" kicker sub that I put in a bazooka tube. I think i'am going to put in on the middle hump between the driver and passenger seat to see how it sounds

I've got an 10" alpine sitting in the backseat. It's not elegant but for now...it gets the job done. There's really not a lot of room in the footwell behind the front seats on the verts. I like the idea of the armrest box. Sounds like a good alternative to the glove box sub and hidden subs under the rear seats with removable cushions.

                    Luke,

How about an in-cabin box that'll sit in the middle of the rear seat like an armrest for a single 8" woofer. I was thinking front firing, ported for max output, and you could even use that area between the rear ashtray and rear seat. It wouldn't be WIDE but it should be long enough to give good bass.

I like the idea. Has anyone ever successfully modified rear side panels to accept a pair of thin 8" woofers? I'm thinking of widening the panels so there is no armrest on the sides which will give another 3" or so of clearance.

The problem with that is...1) there's barely enough room for a 5.25" speaker so imagine trying to fit a shallow 8" sub. Even if you extended it 3" (which realistically is quite a bit on an already narrow seat) or so it would still be pretty damn tight and there's also power windows back there. 2) there would be no rear midrange speakers at all. 3) There's also the issue of the top latch being accessible for those with manual tops.

I think the center armrest sub would be cheaper and easier to implement and it would also be removable as well which is always a bonus. It might not look as "clean" but it makes the most sense.
