Advice on new HU

I remember a thread recently about a HU that really fits the look of the E30 interior. It had an old school look but modern features and I believe was less than $100. I can't remember the model. Basically would like orange illumination, rear sub output, rear aux. or RCA input and front USB. And not to look like it belongs in a F&F movie. Do not need a CD player. Any ideas?

I have 2 "go to" decks: the JVC KD-R900 (about $200) and the DEH 6300 (about $120) that Mark mentioned. The 6300 is the best bang for ease of use, cheap, useful features, yadda yadda yadda

The only issue i have with the 6300 is navigating the playlist on my Commando Droid. It sucks compared to an ipod.

Yeah, I would agree. I have not spent enough time making playlists with it, as I am a "full album" listener. I generally use a thumb drive for storage. I don't even know if you can make a playlist with that.

It's very small and you can barely tell it's there when plugged in the front of the HU. I currently have my XM plugged into the front AUX port. I know it's crazy, but I hate seeing that cable there. Doesn't look clean. Those 2 decks Luke mentioned def. look better than what I have but still too "new" looking. I usually only listen to XM or MP3's. I'll keep searching and let you know what I find.

Didn't mean that unit necessarily, just old school looks like that. Oh well, think I'll just keep what I've got. Sound wise right now, I'm perfectly happy with my system. I think I'll paint the trim ring matte black to blend in a little better. Nice pun though! :D

Edit: I really do like the way it looks. I like clean and simple.

Have you seen the Jensen HD deck? Search it up, I think it is nice.

What I want is my 20 year old Denon deck but with modern stuff...that is why I hane for a DCT-Z1, only I know it is a pile of shit too, damn things break like few other.

I wish the Clarion 9255 was less hideous...
