Factory tape deck

My tape deck wrongfully thinks there is a tape inserted I can even fast forward and rewind. Has anyone else had this problem?

By total fluke I found the code on the original bill of sale in the glove box but the stupid deck doesn’t even work.

I don’t want to rewire the car right now so an aftermarket deck is out of the question.

Any ideas?

Disconnect the power cable for the deck. This has happened to me too.

You do not have to rewire the car in order to run an aftermarket headunit.

Well I’ve got premium sound ... will an aftermarket deck sound like crap since the system is wired through the factory amp?

Is there a wiring harness available for e30's?
