I've been having trouble with my instrument cluster since I bought my E30 in November of last year, The spedometer has always worked, and so did the temp and fuel guages. A few weeks ago I got everything working for about a day after replacing the SI batteries, but now only my spedometer wants to work and I kn ow the SI batteries are still good (check with a multimeter)... I've reflowed all the sodder joints (my background in RC helped here), and still no luck, is there anything else I should look at/for? I'm already taking my dash out as it needs to be replaced (or in my case covered with black duct tape untill I can get a new dash) so this would be a great time to let me know of any issues that could be under the dash.

Oh my, um... welcome to the forum.
Good luck with that. I've never experienced any problem with the SI batteries. My cluster problems have always been fixed by replacing components ex. speedometer, tachometer, etc. OR wiring. Like you said, soldering / reflowing a connection.
Replacing the dash is not a fun project. I would not do it until I had a new dash ready to go in so I only had to do it once! -
Welcome. Your best bet is just get another cluster to test out the SI board. If it works then the clusters probably needs to retire.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.
