Speaker Wiring?

I know this may sound like a dumb question but where are the speaker wires in an e30 when you pull the factory radio. I successfully wired up the head unit but I couldn't find any speaker wire, even with using a wire tester. Can anyone help me out with this?

Premium sound? If so, you need to power up the amp to find the speaker wires.

First, what year/model is the car, and does it have Premium Sound?

Second as said above, you need to power the amp if it has PS, that is the white wire in the harness, not the second one that is ran with the power antenna.

Third, yes, the wires are the blue/yellow, but that is only 1/4th of the story.

Tell us what car you have, but read the "amp bypass" sticky too. I bet it answers most of your questions.

I have an 89 325is, I also don't know if there is an amp in my car. There is only a bmw cd changer there but not an amp.

You very likely have Premium Sound. The amp, if it has one, is hidden. That amp only makes like 10 watts X 4, so it is not like that would rock your world.

Read the amp bypass sticky, follow the instructions there.

Do you think it's just better to put new speaker wiring in it? because I'm putting a sub woofer in with the head unit.

No, the stock wire is far better quality than pretty much any wire you can buy.

Use it if possible.
