What's the best option for bass if you don't have a sub? The stock premium speakers? Or would some 6x9s in the rear be a better choice?

i'm pretty happy with my premium speakers. you can actually feel the bass within the car. not as prominent as the bigger subs which i hate. it's just right.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

A huge amp with some long throw 5.25s.
6x9s in the rear work decent but they vent into the sealed trunk.sigpic"If one does not fail at times, then one has not challenged himself." -Ferdinand Porsche

the amp is built in. its got just a plug so its very easy to take one when you need the room. you can just connect it to your rear speakers. you dont need to run rca's from the deck. i think i paid $75 on craigslist for mine. they make them in 8" and 10". i've got the 8" and its plenty for me.Comment

You're best bet is to lurk on car audio forums and then research about certain components or drivers that will give you what you're looking for.

true that.
I know the front 5.25" openings can accomodate a 6.5" driver with some modification, but at least it would be a better overall performing setup than the 5.25"
Im currently looking to keep the 5.25" size and look for a set of components.. I have yet to find a pair that is suitable to my needs (electronic dance music) at a decent price, i dig the stock tweeter position (i like it clean) however my this is the second set of nokias that i have blown through... Im wondering how easy it is to swap new tweeters into them.

I'm not necessarily looking for a permanent alternative to a sub, just something easy. I just put 5.25 components in the front and wired up an amp to power them. Unfortunately, the amp is only a 2 channel, so to get a sub set up I would have to run another amp, and I really don't feel like doing that haha.
So with that in mind, you guys still think that drivers would be a good idea? I don't really see my 22 rms deck being able to sufficiently power 6.5''s
P.S. If anyone is selling their black, rear, premium speakers, please contact me.Comment

alpine 6x9s with a small amp in the rear deck. type-s i think it was sps-609s. Sounds better than my non-ported sony 450w 10" walmart setup...cause my box sucks ass.Comment

What about alpine 6x9s in the front, powered by a 110 watt rms amp, and premium speakers in the rear powered by my deck?Comment
