Does anyone know how our stock tweeters are hooked up?

Bodyshop i think forgot to plug them in when they disassembled the door & side mirrors to paint....and can't hear anything coming out of them. Is there a connection behind the tweeter itself, or is it hidden behind the door card.

Haven't had a chance to clear out my garage to take the cards off, hence my post. Thanks!

I'm a noob but I think the wiring is right behind the tweeters. Pretty easy to wire up actually.

cool thanks guys. since the bodyshop removed the doors to paint, i thought it might've had something to do with the wiring thru the door thru to the a-pillar area. Thanks!

They are also hooked up in the kick panel at the mid range. Might be disconnected there.

            soooo

the odd thing is, i checked the connections, and they are hooked up both behind the tweeter + the speaker side. The speakers were L & R where working great prior to the car going into paint.

I wonder if both tweeters just so happened to kick the bucket at the same time.

Highly doubt it. check the door jam connectors.

I'm having the same problem! I converted my 84 to premium and ran fresh wire direct from each mid to the tweets. Nothin. Zero response, and they are known good from a friends car. I did notice that you can only really plug in the positive, are the factory grounds using a single terminal for both the mid and tweet?

DING DING DING we have a winner!

                  You nailed it.

The reason the OPs tweets are not working is whatever body man put the speakers back in did not expect to run across pretty much the only car with 3 wires going to the speaker.

The tweeter grounds (grey/yellow) to the speaker ground just below the speaker, on the harness, taped in place.

                  Closing SOON!

ugh. sorry to bump this thread, but I took the tweeters, speakers & door cards off again yesterday, and couldn't find anything out of the ordinary. Everything seemed to be hooked up properly....I pulled the rubber plugs in between the doors to make sure everything was buttoned up ok (and that no wires were cut from the bodyshop), and nothing!

I even went as far as swapping the tweeters off my friends' E30, and it didn't work. Any other suggestions guys? I don't know if these pics help, but i snapped them anyway

                      The midranges are connected correctly.

Use a voltmeter to test the continuity between the ends of the tweeter wires: Gray/Green and Gray/Yellow

Disconnect both ends first, then test.

Nice fucking way to respond to a compliment! No, seriously, I can see all of the connectors, you can see the wire colors clearly, it isn't nasty blurry, those are fine shots.

I was actually serious, good job.
