I am also sick of taking down my radar detector everyt ime I park my car. It is a pain in the ass. I live in the city,s o I'm not gona leave a $400 radar detector sitting on my windshield.

    I think I may just take the easy route and mount it where the defroster switch and whatnot is located, but then I run into another problem;

my car is a touring, so it's got controls for the rear windshield wiper and rear squirter, plus the hazard button, plus the rear defroster. so I'd have to relocated one of those somewhere, too

I wonder if you could put inside of an AC vent and just flip the the vent closed so you coundnt see it, I dont know how big the concealed things is from the picture but it doesnt look that big, I thought th V1 was the size of a textbook when I first saw it online and in mags, but working at BMW I noticed that its not any bigger than an 8500.

unlesss im mistaken you would still have to have the detector itself somwhere high in teh cabin so it can do its job, aka detect the radar. the pick ups are on the detector itself, if you put it somewhere hidden, like glovebox, no radar can get to it so it wont be able to tell you theres radar there.

I've been thinking lately about getting a mirror that mounts to the windshield and trimming where the mirror usually mounts to the ceiling. You could then pop the check panel out of the front and put a V1 in there...it's hollow, IIRC.

That would give the advantage of a high mounting point for the detector, which is better, and also be pretty stealthy. If you come to a roadblock you could just stick the panel back in.

So today, curiousity made me take apart a Maplight mirror.:
            http://www.servfiles.com/4730/

            Measurements of the concealed display:
            1.0-in. H x 2.5-in. W x 1.2-in. D.

Space available in the maplight mirror w/o cutting anything:
            H 1 3/4" x W 2 1/4" x D 30/32"

            Conclusion:
With minor trimming, we can get a width of over 2.5" however, that will reduce the depth (lowest depth point to about 22/32".)
In order to get any more depth, we would have to cut the back of the mirror, which would not be much of an eye candy, and will defeat the purpose of this mod.

            Possible solution:
Take apart the concealed display and modify to fit in the dimension:
            Either:
            H 1 3/4" x W 2 1/4" x D 30/32"
            or approx
            H 1 3/4" x W 2.5" D 22/32"

ColdAccord, so the answer to your question would be, NO, without taking apart the concealed display.

            Finally...
            - Anyone have the E36/E46 (whatever mirror Invisimirror is) and care to open it up to take measurements?
