    OBC LED upgrade

I just wanted to share my experience doing this. I was Originally going to do a Nebulous123 lightbar the found a article to DIY and was surprisingly easy. I used these LED's http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062550

    and this resistor http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...watt+resistors

    So cost was like $3...

    I followed these instructions: http://forums.eurocca.net/showthread...ight-with-LEDs

EXCEPT my setup would not fit quite right so I ended up cutting the bridge in the white piece. I must say am very please with it because the look seems much better. On mist the LED setups i've seen you get alot of glow at either end of the screen. With this I did not. Its and even glow.

    Pics soon to follow

Who ever did the soldering was pro, considering the poor quality of the resister and led leads.

Others have uneven light distribution making the backlight too bright

versus how mine was done which the led's lay flat and you cut the middle of the bridge out

      Only the number stick out

And thanks to Andrewm for doing the soldering... I saved 27 dollars and only took about an hour to disassemble, solder and reinstall

I'm guessing you lose the dim feature though...

I did this today. Used the yellow radio shack LEDs and the 270 ohm resistor. Looks perfect in daylight and at night.

Took less than an hour and cost less than $4.

                        Thank you.

I've also done this myself out of impatience of waiting for an LED board to come in so I wouldn't have downtime.

Took me all of an hour and looks great
If you have the newer style display module (came on OBCs 88+), as long as you lay the LEDs flat, you don't have to cut out the middle terminal. Best $5 dollar mod ever

You cut out the plastic ridge between the two LED's?
