Have done quite a few. My suggestion is an Audiocontrol LC8i so you have a proper AUX in.
Proper sub level controller, too, plus the best converters available, SQ for the buck.
You would need to power all of your speakers, but you knew that already.

I want to install the original Head Unit, using a LC8i controller, but have only 4 speaker outputs, how can I connect the fifht channel for the sub?

Luke, I got the lc8i, but what can I do to control the levels of my individual speakers? Balance/fade/bass/treble etc..."Wow. We're just blowing through nap time, aren't we?"

On the stock deck, the balance and fader will work if so equipped.
