How do I put tweeter in the pod?

Ok, I've got the stock tweeter out. I guess I could somehow glue the new tweeters in there, but what would be the best or proper way to put it in there?

If I could somehow break off all the inner plastic parts of the ring in the pod, then it would make a perfect fit for my tweeters.
Has anyone have successfully done that? taking out the inner plastics(like the cross kinda looking center and all the surroundings) without damaging the outer ring?

If I just glue the tweeter on top of what's there right now, it's going to have lots of gaps around and inbetween. Would sound quality differ cause of this?

Do not disassemble the tweeter itself. You will dislodge the surround and cone mechanism. Just place the tweeter in there and use a 2 part epoxy to glue it back in place. You dont have to load mounds of glue in there, just enough to hold the tweeter in place but not enough that will make it impossible to remove in future if it blows.

Some have used hot glue but I find hot glue sometimes becomes soft when exposed to sun for long periods. You will probably be OK with hot glue if you choose so.

Dont worry about the gaps, that only applies to mid bass drivers and woofers.

Do you want to maintain the OEM appearance and continue to use the grill? If not then I would just dremel away the sail panel's plastic ring and modify the aftermarket tweeter so that its a snug fit in the sail panel and finish it off with hot glue to hold it into place. Here is what I did.

When I installed mine, I pulled the oem tweeter out like your pic, but also the rest of the tweeter that is factory glued into the pod. Once you remove that...(I just used a small flathead, and broke all the old glue, and it popped out) you will have the oem grill, with nothing behind it. I then CAREFULLY glued my new tweeter inside the pod. worked nice, and looks factory. You def dont want to leave all the other junk in there.

Yea, I did what the guy above you did... used a Dremel to clean out the old plastic, and then held my tweeter in place with some black silicone. Looked 100% stock... loved it... actually have to do it again to a new E30.

I always pop them out with a screwdriver and use "Zap" brand "gap filling" cynoacrylc adhesive (crazy glue) and the accelerant for it.
