Agreed on the AudioControl...but that is like $130ish for a volume control and line driver.

The JL is like $60 retail and is still a damn good line driver AND already comes with a volume control.

That iStreamer is an absolutely awesome piece but IMO, a very poor choice for this application. First, it provides a fixed volume output, so you still need something for a volume control/pre-amp...plus, this is in a noisy-ass car and he is just trying to get a real system started. Throwing that kind of money at an "audiophile" DAC is just silly.

I have an Audiocontrol Four.1 that I will feed a full 24 bit HD Audio output from a Android (Galaxy 10.1 on ICS is looking the winner so far) tablet via an "HDMI Audio Stripper"...so full 24 bit 192khz recordings from my turntable will be as high a resolution as is currently available...S/N ratio over 100db throughout the entire audio chain...with a 9.5V RMS output no less. Yeah, it should be nice, but I don't think anyone on R3V would be interested in paying that kind of dough and dealing with that kind of hassle to get that kind of SQ. Especially in a noisy-ass E30.

Luke, it's been a while since I looked into it much (engine is much more important!) but did you look at the Viliv pc's? I don't know how it would compare to todays bleeding edge though...

Oh, and the JL is a bargain then...I guess I just get a hardon for audio stuff from the PNW... ;)

I want nothing under 10" for my screen and I want it to have a case from Trident, ideally a Kraken (most amazing phone accessory I have ever seen) and it must have a GPS antenna. Wifi is fine, as I will have my MiFi...but I am sick and tired of my old-ass eyeballs not being able to see the screen.

As far as PNW Audio crap, we do kick ass up in this bitch. The Audiocontrol is far and away my fave...but our boy here is ballin' on a budget!

Welp, got the converter installed, however instead of 1F2M y-line RCA cables, I need 1M2M y cables. So, need to go find those now.

No, you have to have something confused.

You have 1 pair of RCAs coming from the front to the rear, right?

So, you need 1F to plug into that cable, them 2 M to plug into the amp.

So, you need 2 1F2M at the amp.

He could also do a male to two female at the preamp.

Yea, that would be to go to the amp. But the line converter has two females for inputs and then 2 females for outputs. Additionally, the amp has all female inputs. Thus I need male to male connectors, very annoying. I sort-of botched together something that works. Just a couple y-connectors put together.
