e36, z3 unit

Since a stock z3 unit works in ours, and this unit is compatable with a z3, then shouldn't this (perhaps with little modifaction) in turn work with an e30?

I know it's very expensive, but i think it would be cool anyway.

Anything can work with the correct wiring, given that its not locked by a safety feature.

That said, there are CD players available that are light years better than that deck for the same price.
