A capacitor holds charge so when your bass hits it draws of the capacitor and doesn't drain your battery hard/dim your lights.

I have been very very happy with my Infinity Kappa 5 1/4" components, for the money they are great.

you think they can pump out nice bass? i remember seeing your musical tastes and well you don't listen to house or techno as much as i do. so you think they would be a good balance between rock/house/hip hop?

They aren't supposed to pump out bass, thats the subs job. Kappas are a little more full than other speakers I've heard, but I prefer that over hollow sounding speakers like MB Quart Reference line.

lol well as you can see i don't know much about audio...i have two friends that know their shit, but i can't get a completely straight answer outta them in regard to component speakers..

what about focals or boston acoustics? whats your take on those?

Focal Utopias are arguably the best components available, but they are out of your price range at like $800/pair. I am sure anything by Focal is great. I don't have any personal experience with Boston.

                      so far not much really..

i've just made a baffle for now, i can't really do any of the wiring work because i have to remove the carpet and the thing is, is that im swapping the tan interior for black..soo this week i should be pickin up a dark charcoal grey carpet that way i can finally start on the wiring for the amps and the sub. I dont really wanna take out the carpet twice and do unnecessary work..

Update on what i have purchased:

Polk Audio DB 5250 Component Speakers

                      2 Eclipse PA4212 Amps

                      Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1d Subwoofer

I've already installed the components and they fuckin rock...im dyin to hear the speakers amp'ed and obviously the woofer.

Ill keep you updated...im pretty sure i should get some progress done this week.

I'll be looking forward to your progress, I interested in getting components also but for my cab. Are you gonna rewire at the same time? Any chance you can take pics too? Thanks.

I have a set of Boston Rally components in my Tacoma and a set of Boston pro's in my 325i. I like the way that they sound and I have had ZERO problems with them.
I was looking at a set of Focals when I bought the pro's, I decided on the bostons because I liked the way that alot of the underground Hip Hop I like sounded on the bostons than on the Focals.

finished hooking everything up last week...

ITS FUCKIN AWESOME...the improvement is just

the sub hits beautifully, and the components fuckin rock...everything is crisp and just fuckin great.

i dynamated everything in the interior (foot wells, floor, and rear deck).

also when i did this i put in a new carpet, and to my surprise the carpet i bought had no foam padding on the underside of the carpet, so i went to home depot and bought a 5x6 piece of carpet liner. i put the foam on top of the dynamat and the insulation is really good. the cabin got quieter from the previous setup. if the carpet wasn't that much a bitch to take out and put back in, i'd put more foam under there. but for what i've done im really quite happy.

all that is left to be done is cleaning up all of the wires in the trunk.

oh and one more thing, remember how i bought a 1/2 piece of mdf...well thats been replaced by 3/4 mdf because i fucked up on the baffle...too many screw holes and it wasn't lining up to the mounting holes.

anyways ill try to snap some shots of the baffle when i get the chance.

Glad it worked out great, I am 100% happy with my system since I added a sub as well. Makes me notice more how crappy MP3's are for good stereos though.
