    OBC buttons no lights

The LCD is lighting up ok, the buttons are not lit despite changing the recessed bulb with three good ones, is there any other connection other than the green plug to the OBC?

There should be 12V power on the Green/Black wire and Grey/Violet wire. Associated fuses are #10, #12, #27, #21.
    Illumination power is Grey/Red.

Red/White is also associated with the OBC. It too will have 12V power.

These are the wiring specs from a 1989 E30. Since you did not list your car year, it might not be 100% accurate but most E30 electrical is the same.

You should have already checked all the fuses.

The car is a 1989 325is, none of the fuses are burnt.. does the illumination (the buttons light) have a fuse of its own? BTW all other functions are working on the OBC.

Yes, I changed out three good ones and still not working, just to be sure they were good I took them out of the working/lit instrument cluster.

Finally resolved. It was a piece of plastic that was stuck in the recessed place where the bulb sits.
