Subwoofer Porting - Removing Rear Speakers?

Would the bass be more crisp/louder if the the rear speakers were removed, to allow the air to move freely from the trunk to the cabin? Would this be considered a basic way of porting the sub? Or is it not worth my time? I was just thinking about removing the speakers but reinstalling the grills to cover up the ugly holes, would it sound any different bass wise?

That's what I did. I removed the rear speakers and left the stock speaker grills there. i also got the rear seat with the pull down armrest, and punched out the skihole pass-through.

Dude--I'm sorry, I've never had anything against you, but you don't need to quote the first post in a brand new thread. I mean, what else would you be talking about?

Awesome, thanks. Did you notice a difference in sound from the sub when you removed the rear speakers? What was the difference? Louder, crisper? Just louder? More rattles or less?

The main reason I removed my rear speakers was because it sounds better with no rear speakers. I'm sure it helped the sub port a little more, but it didn't really need it as I already had the rear seat ported throught the armrest.
It would make more of a difference in your car because it is not ported at all right now. You don't need rear speakers anyways.

This is gonna sound stupid, but how do you remove the rear speakers? I just can't figure it out. It's not like it screams "unscrew the screws dumbass" like the front speakers do.

Take off the speaker grills and there is the answer.

Do you have the premium factory speakers? If so you need to remove the metal screens which will reveal the screws.

Bingo. But How do I do that? Pulling the covers upwards has so far revealed no rewards.

Thank ye Ken. I never thought it would be the screen itself that came off. :D

if one wants to keep rear speakers would there be another way to do this? I dont have a sub installed yet but just the front speakers sounds like crap compared to some sound comming from the rear too. would a sub change this?

Nick I'm gonna be nice to you cause audio is something I hold near and dear.......

I don't have a clue what you are talking about though. What you are saying is that you want to keep your rear speakers but let more sound through? If so you'd have to do some of the stuff Luke has alluded to earlier in this thread. If your fronts are sounding like ass its because you have shitty fronts or aren't powering them correctly.
