    sub enclosure advice

hello im building a subenclosure for 2 low profile rockford 12" subs, i dont actually own an e30 but alot of the people here seem knowledgeable on the topic. so the enclosure is going into a double cab truck with very little space, my question is can i use 1/4 mdf with insulation such as dynapad and a trusslike framing to create a strong box?

1/4 is a bit thin but if you do use effective truss framing inside the box, I bet you can pull it off. I say go for it.

I've built many boxes using 1/2 inch MDF and turned out great and lightweight.

However with two 12's and high power, you might blow that box to pieces. It all depends on how much wattage you are feeding those 12's. If you have 8's or 10's, then yeah 1/4 might work. But two 12's and 1/4 wood without framing would fail, no doubt.

I would never build a box for 12's with less than 5/8, even then I would brace the hell out of the box.

thes 12's are going to be in two separate boxes, they have a mounting depth of 3.6" and an rms wattage of 250. the idea is to design in a way similar to a bridge or the trusses in a roof you use much smaller weaker materials and basic physics to create a rigid structure while keeping withing the size restrictions of my vehicle, something like 5/8" mdf will leave me with approx 1.5-2.5 inches of depth

You're not going for sound pressure level so you do not require a super rigid enclosure. 250W isn't too much so just make sure you add additional volume to make up for the internal bracing, if you can.

Simple triangle braces would probably be the best bet to keep as much internal volume as possible. Remember that even though they are shallow subs, they still need about a cubic foot each to sound good.
