window circuit delete

can't really fine a definitive answer but can this switch be bypassed by connecting the 2 wires together? there's not safety concern is there?

reason I'm doing it is because the location of the breaker and wires on a late model console slowly destroys the wiring for the window switch next to it since they are so close together.

Well, it is a circuit breaker, so if your window jams, you might fry something.

You could always just stuff the breaker under the center console out of sight and away from everything. Or re-locate it to the HVAC panel as many e30's are stock.

if you look closely, the base of the circuit breaker is eating into the wires of the neighboring window switch. with some effective cable management, I've moved the top wires of the window switch around the circuit breaker. Unfortunately, there isn't enough slack on the bottom wires so the circuit breaker is pretty much crushing it from above.

I have also noticed this issue with my car. For a while, I used an early breaker on the dash as a replacement, and used a different console without the hole.

The plug really should have come out the side or back from the factory.

I did this over the weekend. Some interesting facts I learned. Airbag equipped cars will need to hack the early center console up to clear the knee brace. Wiring new cables from the center console up to the dash is just as big of a pain if you want to keep it clean.

why not just silicone the wires between them? that would stop the vibration and erosion without molesting the car...

it's not just vibration, the circuit breaker is physically pushing down on the end of the window switch. if you so much as press the window down button, you can see the circut breaker button move because that's how close they are together underneath
