I did mine similar to Lukes mod.

...but then installed a pop-out head unit which blocked the knob.

So I made a little bezel out of a chunk of aluminum and gave this location a shot.

...still working on the finish, but you get the idea.

why? most HU come with bass control one tap in. have an extra nob around just doesn't make sense.

              Engrish?

Did you get all your stuff installed?

...and most head units have a basic level control but no way to boost the lower frequencies of the sub signal.

                    Hmmm...

From my experience the sub control on most head units boost the entire sub signal. My amp controller lets me boost only 63hz and below. I do my best not to make changes at the head unit unless absolutely necessary.

I was running the box cut at 125hz when I had the stock premiums in there, but I just installed 6.5s which allowed me to cut the box in the 80s...much better. Now the box POUNDS without having to produce all of the higher fill frequencies. Particularly with the hardtop on...DUH.

                    Staging is far superior too.

The stock speaker/fader control knob is a potentiometer correct? I wonder what the specs on it are. I bet you could wire up the sub control to that knob and then it would be 100% factory looking.
