I've been using a filed-down screwdriver to loosen the screws that secure the OE radio. What is the actual tool for this?

The correct tool is a 2mm special BMW AST 050 allen key, I have a factory one I bought many years ago for like $50.00 you can get them from $2.00 in craftsman 2mm or sometimes it is a 2.5mm depending on maker and they go up to $20.00 now in price.
If not then any of the previous suggestions would do nicely! For myself I have used a hammer and heavy duty large screw driver to bust it out. If you want to correctly take it out and reuse it again then the the item I mentioned.
