Luke Box with strut tower bar

Will this fit? I am finally getting my car back in order and its time to focus on the stereo. i am wondering if the box will fit with a rear strut bar. saw another thread where the sub was put in the spare tire well because of this issue.i was first concerned about the weight making the rear sag because it is so very low now, so i am putting some spacers in the rear to keep it from being any lower once i put the sub, box, amp in the trunk.

    thoughts?

doesnt it help keep the old boy together? other wise all those torn welds in the suspension would rip the car apart. ;)

Just cut some holes in the lukebox and pass the strut bar through. Doesn't have to seal or anything, no worries.

Edit: unless you're tracking your car hard you won't notice a difference

yeah makes since. with those 2 big gaping holes above where the sub goes a few more small holes shouldn't matter.

          and good point.

The lukebox functions as a rear strut bar oh and rear strut bars are worthless. If your car has that much flex id recommend getting a new shell.

I was an installer in '99, it amazes me how far car audio has come.

I finally recycled my blown up adire brahma last month. Sad nobody could rebuild it, it was an amazing sub. I still have the dust cover.

LOL WAT!? DONT CUT HOLES IN YOUR BOX. The port tubes are right there anyway. And ya, it does need to seal everywhere, except the port area.

It won't fit, man. Throw the strut brace in with a metal recycling run or sell it.

I was being facetious, everyone else picked up on this.

However, thanks for the clarification. :D

Justin builds the things too, we take this shit serious!

OK, more strut tower questions, I will try to help a bit here.

First, as Eric said, "strut bars" in the back of an E30 are pure stupid. Why the hell would anyone want to brace the strongest part of the car? Besides, the rears are shocks, NOT struts, so the rules are different.

The rear shock see no load or weight aside from controlling the movement of the car, so some bar of metal across the two shock towers does absolutely nothing.

What we plan to do about this need is far more elaborate, far more difficult to build and install, but will actually do something to stiffen the chassis.

Remember, half of this company is me, the stereo guy. The other half is a 2 time national carting champion who learned to drive on a racetrack (the fucker apexes corners driving our shitty old work van!). We will be making performance goodies sooner or later...but they won't be bullshit, they will have an actual function...unlike a stupid bar that braces something that has no real stress on it.

Our rear half brace will connect to the sway bar mounts and the shock mounts. It will connect to the floor of the car and possibly the rear seat belt mounts, making for a very solid structure. It will reinforce the shock mounting area well enough to allow the use of true coilovers, should the want arise. We will also attempt to brace the diff mount, as that would be a great strength adding location.

Oh, and another neat-o thing: we will have a great place to anchor a cage as part of this design, too.

I am not gonna get into too much of the design yet, but with over 700 subwoofer boxes shipped, you can bet they will fit beautifully with our 8" or 10" boxes, hopefully the 12" too. The plan is to have it fit inside an amp rack too, and show through the window. It has to look badass too, right? Think how sweet that would look!

I have spoken with a couple of R3V members about making something that will fit behind our boxes, but so far none have happened.

Soon we will have our CNC setup built so we can make stuff like this...and don't even get me started on how we are gonna do a full BBK and 5 lug swap using all OE stuff with new bearings for $1000 total...

Sooner or later, we will have a performance division, Justin has plenty of ideas that will make for a damn fast E30, and we will be marketing those goodies, too.

                        Luke

Uh huh...forgot to add that our 5 lug BBK will have all 4 disks, not just the front.

                            Figure early 2014.
