Nope. No rattling I have it set at moderate bass. Blends in nicely inside the car.

        I'm only pushing it at 300 WRMS @ 4Ω
Not like some people that run DVC multiple subs at 0-2Ω and 1000+ WRMS

By the way, get nothing but compliments on how the Kenwood blends in with the black interior and matching lights.

        What setup do you have?

5Toes there has a German Audio Engineering "Stage2" system in his E34.

That would be an aftermarket deck (his is a nice JVC) a 5 channel amp (Infinity Reference 5350A) one of our E34 12" boxes with an Infinity 1262W and a modded stock crossover and all 10 stock drivers (E31 and newer are mostly all 3 way in front) and one of our gorgeous amp racks. The stock BMW drivers are superior to most aftermarket components (including Alpine, JL, most Focal, whatever) in the lower price points. Basically better than pretty much anything under $200/set, MSRP. The 3 way has much nicer imaging and staging, the midrange is what makes these cars sound so wonderful...unless powered by the puny stock amp.

Later E34s have MUCH nicer speakers and can use our brilliant 10 channel passive crossover network on the stock speakers. That combination gives unbelievable sound quality, on the level of nicer ($5K+) home speakers. That setup is a whole 'nother story though, and significantly more dough.

          Here are a few pics:

The wiring was kinda messy before clean-up. Screw eye wire ties are your friend!

There are a bunch of pics in the library, we will be doing an install tutorial on the E34 shortly, including deck wiring, crossover mods, our 10 channel crossover and how to install our new design amp rack. We did not get any pics of the deck in the dash, nor of the stock speakers, but we did get some for our "stock amp mod guide" for those with early E34s that want killer SQ on a budget.

All this install can be done in a couple of hours with our guidance.

          More pics here: http://s102.photobucket.com/user/ste...0E34%20install

The setup is gorgeous, plays very low, very loud (around 130db is my guess) very clean and with amazing detail.

Total cost was around $850, counting the box, the amp rack and the modded crossover, amp, woofer, deck and cables, everything.

Sorry for coming off as a dick mpower. I just really do love the GAS products, and their convertible box especially is a work of art

Looks like it's tucked in there nicely and clean.

Not like there is much room in an e30 cabrio's trunk anyways. I already had the ported/vented box and Infinity sub that I had in my Ford Ranger. I like how it sounds/feels in the bimmer. I was just happy it fit. But it won't win any "pretty" shows. lol

I do have a 12" Kicker CompRT that comes in it's own enclosure that take less real estate, but it's much higher (800 WRMS).

Anyhow I will see if I can mount some SPR-60s or smaller SPR-50s Alpines in the rear panels without touching/cutting the stock panels at all. I will have to fab' up something for structure (back panel) and cover with matching vinyl.

Don't worry about razzin' me about my HU. Everyone has preference for a certain look or model HU. I've been around cars and car forums too many years to let it get to me. I do what I can to get the best I can on a limited budget and do all the work myself.

Awesome attitude...hell yes, its YOUR car, right?

                If you get stuck, LMK.

The rear speakers on the 'vert are so frustrating. Nothing fits, nothing sounds good, just lame all the way around. Generally, I end up modding a pair of front "premiums" to fit there, works out OK.

                  Thank you.

Yes the stock rears are 25w and the fronts are 40w. I already have the 40w premiums fitted in the rear, but of course not hooked up.

I was thinking I could fab another panel, using the original as a template, use spacers (seal them) and cover them all up in matching grey vinyl. That would make enough space for the magnet and give somewhat of an enclosure.
I already have a pair of SPR-60C (has the external crossover & tweeter pod) to mount. Though I may go with the 5.25" SPR-50s.

I just want it to look good because you can see them, whereas the lower kick panel ones you can't really see them to notice the kick panels are gone.

With the Premiums, I tried them both with and without the inductor on there.

I preferred it bypassed, it is roughly 4Khz at 6db/oct, so midbass and midrange, but no treble at all...on a speaker with shitty treble in the first place!

                    GL!

LoL I hear ya. A 6.5" speaker is the way to go anyways. I still get pretty good loud quality sound out of just the pair (pushing at 75 WRMS @ 4 Ωs). Having some rears would be make it complete.
