I'm looking around for clever solutions to the problem of managing an aux cable.
My PO installed a fancy Alpine pop-up HU with brain box in the trunk, and it's quite nice so I decided to keep it despite it's relative ugliness in the dash.
I (or I should say, Luke) mounted the brain on my Lukebox next to the amp, and routed a lengthy aux cable through the center of the car. I have it coming out below the HVAC panel, just dangling there with some slack for ease of use.
I'm looking into and probably pulling the trigger on a Parker ashtray gauge panel, and was contemplating putting an aux jack on that. I could then use a retractable aux cable and tuck it away when not in use. I'm finicky like that.
I prefer the aux cable for its simplicity, which allows me to use my iPhone to control the music and leave the HU screen retracted the majority of the time.
Searching Amazon I haven't come across anything that looks to be exactly what I'd need in terms of a female-to-female 3.5mm adapter with no length that would be good for hard mounting on a panel. Anyone else go a similar route? i.e. an aux jack in a trim blank or elsewhere.
