Tach worked, now it doesn't, then it worked... now it doesn't again!

I did the swap (M50NV), and EVERYTHING worked. I installed an aftermarket stereo along with swapping the dash... Now the Tach does not work.

I recently ran the car into a curb. After installing new control arms, bushings, sway bar bushings and tie-rod ends... the tach started working again, however the odometer stopped working.
I took the cluster out to investigate the odometer (broken gear teeth) to find that when I re-installed the cluster, the tach would not work again.

Here is the behavior of the needle which I found strange.

You have a E46 key, how'd you do that? Alarm with the key fob too?

Most likely dead SI board batteries if they have not been changed before. SI board directly powers and controls tach, temp, and MPG gauge. Most often affects tach first.

check the tracer on the board. i have seen them burn, easily repaired with a piece of wire and some solder.

I spend the $30 and put new SI batteries in it. Didn't make a difference.

This burned "trace". Could someone point me in the direction of a pic that would illustrate such a thing?
