Getting to the bottom of my cluster issue

I have a weird issue with my cluster. I took the known workin one out of my euro car and put it in my dd only the speedo worked. I put a different known working cluster in my car same issue.

My speedo is the only thing that works

    Temp is bypassed(aftermarket guage)

Tach and fuel only work while the key is in the start position.

This car was and still is somewhat of a wiring nightmare thanks to the po I'm assuming something crossed or something but I don't know where to start the harness is hacked from an attempted alarm install that apparently never worked.

Sorry for the poor punctuation, I was fighting my 1 year old for my phone.

I'm thinking it's not the cluster at all! Maybe the ignition switch is bad. I've bought 8 clusters over the years, I'm gonna be pissed if it's the ignition switch.

I've easily spent 300+ on replacement clusters for this peice of shit not to mention the multiple heater resistors I've bought and the after market temp guage. The hours spent building a stand alone harness to run the hvac. Been fighting these electrical problems for years. Somehow I missed the #10fuse. everything works now.

I've never been so pissed after successfully fixing a car.

        Fml.

You took the absolute worse method of troubleshooting by buying replacement parts before knowing they are bad. Always start with fuses, because they are cheap and easy to replace/check.

Yes I agree, this has been a long on and off battle over the years I'm sure I checked the fuses before. The fuse blew again. Turns out the culprit was a short in the reverse light wirin by the gear shifter, so every time I put it in reverse the fuse blew and my cluster, mirrors,an heat stopped working
