    Instrument Cluster Question 1984 318i

I want to replace the existing cluster in my 84 318i with one out of an 86 325e, both existing and new one are both VDO. Will I have any issues?

You will have to change the coding plug to one for a four cylinder engine.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Might be a dumb question, but where might I find a "coding plug" for it?

I have one, came off an 84 318i for the M10.

PM me for the price/shipping if interested.

Coding plug on pre-1986 clusters in in the rear of the cluster. Post 1986 is on the lower front right.
