what about just getting the unit from an e36 or other model that has one touch windows? Then the 2 stage switches could be used

The 1 touch unit from an e36 is a mess of wires that integrates the ecu, IIRC. You'd be better off chopping your nuts off than trying to retrofit something like this...

Course, now that I don't have a sunroof...
To be honest, I would be perfectly happy with a non-sunroof E30. I only open mine the front-way, where it pops up slightly. Any time I have it open all the way, the sun just blinds me from whatever direction I'm in.

Here's a fun recipe for you to try at home, Josh.

                one part eat a dick

                one part fuck off

add a little spice, and you've got yourself a winner ;)

I have three autoloc units (one for each window and the sunroof). I loooove them! I've had problems getting my sunroof to work flawlessly (i.e. I have to hit it twice sometimes to get it fully closed because it will stop someway through), but I think that has a lot to do with it being retrofitted.

                  They are so worth it.

TAKE NOTE: I believe that BMPD kit is only one unit (i.e. you can either control one window in both up and down, or two windows with only down or up). Do an ebay search for autoloc one touch and get those. It's the same thing as what BMPD sells, but at a much much better price.

Chris - when you retrofitted, you probably didn't make sure the motor was stopped at "tilt" - which would have been where the sunroof panel was when you installed it. I had this happen in one of my cars. Basically, you plug in the motor, hit the switch until you hear it click/stop, then hit it again, and it will click stop again right after. That's "tilt," so you can make sure the panel is where it's supposed to be.

I really want these autoloc things. One thing at a time though - e36 switches first :)

It's actually set up correctly (if it's warm out, it works fine). I stuipidly used grease on the cables though, so when it is cold, the sunroof doesn't like to close in one motion. I'll take it apart next time I have time to get to it and try to get it working smoothly.

It is not clear on BMP's website, but it does not mention whether it is also one-touch up in addition to down. Anyone have the BMP unit? If it is just a rebadged Autoloc unit you'll need two of them to go both up and down. If you just want one-touch down, each Autoloc unit will control two windows.

Do a search for the WC1000, there are cheaper places to get it than BMP.

Thanks for the link. So, for a cab... i have 4 windows. that means I need 4 modules (one for each window?) Where do these install - In the doors or somewhere else?

I did this in my old 911, but the setup was completely different. needed one box for each window.

If you want one-touch up and down, then yes, one module for each window. I installed mine underneath the center console.

Note my ultra-cool shaggy seat covers... :)
