teh sound of BASS, and my fuel line : / ?

ok to start heAr..(har ahr a pun.. : /) is my sound set up

i have splits in the front, tweeters are dash mounted
and i have a 1600W 12" in teh boot in a sealed box
    powered off a 1200W amp

i get alot of bass, my box has space for another 12" if i get bored...

right i have a convertable, the i went for a crisp sound that didnt rely too mucbh on a solid roof to bounce around off (im picky picky about sound quality, and i notice the diff)

anyway, i find that when i am playing (i listen to trance, dance, some rock and some hip hop) if i play a tune with a big bass kick, and then say silence , so like "BOOM ... BOOM ... BOOOM" and i am in 2nd gear driveing slow...like idle is 1.5 / 2 then my car jerks, it jerks in a "i need petrol" kind of way, and i am sure my bass is interferring with my petrol line...

question one, am i right ?

Q2... if i am, what is actually happening , on the tecknical level ? (im a motor teck noob):pimp:

What exact brand/model of subwoofer and amp are they? Does it necessarily have to be 2nd gear? It sounds like voltage drop/severely high current draw, but the information is too vague. If you've got a multimeter and can use it, measure the voltage at the battery during the time when you suspect this problem is supposed to occur. Also, does your battery (charging) light come on at all?

I could maybe see the fuel pump starving...but I bet David is right...I bet it is ECU or coil related.

By the way, what brand + model is your amp? *waits for a 4 channel 1200watt special*

A power cap(acitor) is supposed to store power for hard bass hits, so that it can dynamically provide power when most needed.

Otherwise its another drain on already strained system, I personally have never used a cap and never will.

He's right. Figure out what is going on, THEN decide how you are going to fix it.

What guage wire are you using to power and ground the amp... these could also have a LOT to do with power drain? with a 1200w amp you should be using NOTHING smaller than 4 guage but the bigger the better...

if that made no sense... you should have two wires coming off the amp that are bigger than the rest... if they dont look like a small water hose then they are TOO small...

Here's a great outline of the fundamentals of typical alternator/battery charging systems, and the use of capacitors and wiring upgrades with their inherent purposes.
