Sorry Eric...gotta disagree.
I have 6.5s in the doors and they sound much better than 6.5s pointing at my ankles.
The staging is much improved when the mids are in the proximity of the tweets.
I can't understand why you think your set-up sounds crappy. I don't have nearly the investment, and am very impressed with the quality. Granted, there's quite a bit of pressure loss with the top down, but I've had a number of positive comments regarding the sound quality.

It wont sound any better. there is a lot more air space than you think behind the stock location. you can cut the grills and install larger speakers on standoffs. and updating the tweeters realty helps too.
but in all reality, you cant have great audio in an e30 convertible.
Here is a setup that is similar to what i used
Alpine-CDA105 $110

Alpine-4-Channel F35 $190

Alpine-mono $200

Pioneer-TS-D1320C (front), TS-D1302R (rear) $86/ each pair

JL Audio 8W3V3-4 8" Single 4-Ohm W3V3 Series Subwoofer $280

Luke Box vert bot $200

streetwires 5 meter

Learn how to fiberglass safely... you could do so much more with that knowledge for further audio applications. That or pay some one $300-500 to do it.Leave a comment:

I wish I had the equipment , looks like a niche market .Leave a comment:

Nothing commercially available. German Audio Specialties is the only company that I know of that makes car audio stuff for E30s, and they only sell subwoofer boxes and crossovers.Leave a comment:

Door speakers in map pocket area question .
Does anybody make an adapter or something to put a 6.5 round speaker
where the map pocket is in the doors ?
I have seen a couple custom built ones , but was looking for a commercially
available bolt on unit .Tags: None
