    SI board problems?

My speedo and tach work fine, other guages do not. Odometer does not work despite replacing gears and everything working by hand. On my SI board I have oil service light on and the last 2 lights on the right (yellow and red) that do not go off even when the car is turned off. I had these symptoms so I replaced the batteries, with absolutely no change in any of the above whatsoever. Did I do something wrong, is the board bad, or another issue? The board looked OK visually when replacing the batteries. I also am unable to reset the device lights by jumping the connectors on the diagnostic port. In addition I have (possibly related?) Constant power drain. Battery and alternator both test ad good but every other day or so the car needs to be jumped. I'm not a genius when it comes to electrical so any help is very much appreciated.

Service indicators that do not reset nor turn off when the vehicle is off is sure sign the SI board batteries are dead or the SI board itself is damaged. I've seen many boards with physical and electrical damaged aside from dead batteries.

Because the service lights remain on, while the car is off, this is what is causing your starting battery drain.

A dead Si board will not cause your fuel gauge to perform inaccurately or not at all. However a loose 7mm grounding nut at the rear of the gauge will. Cluster main board solder joint cracks can also cause this, same with the temp gauge.

Just because you change the batteries on the SI board, does not mean it is good again. It must be looked over by someone with experience and capability to test it with a known good setup. I can repair your SI board individually or you can send your cluster to me for a full repair and test. Please visit my SI board thread for more information about damages, repairs and replacements.
