    Reputable alarm installer in NORCAL?

All the shops near me want to charge a ton of money for a half-ass job. I want the brain to be hidden somewhere hard to get, tilt, motion(vert), immobilizer, and pager. I know an alarm isn't the end all solution, but I want to buy as much time as possible. I park with the wheels on full lock so it'b be a bitch to tow. Richmond is filthy with thieves and I have to park on a main road to make things worse. TIA

Have you tried calling Hi-tech in Richmond? There is also Custom Car Alarms in Pleasant Hill and Concord Car Stereo, all reputable shops. I was an installer for 8 years so I know they are quality.

Having a hidden brain, tilt, motion sensors will cost you extra of course. ALso pager alarms usually cost over $200 for the hardware alone.

You basically want the alarm fully loaded but want to pay the minimum price???

I'm in near Richmond too but I promise my price will be greater than anything quote you have received so far. Try Hi-tech, they are one of the best.

I paid a very reputable guy in socal $300 to install my viper, 2 way alarm that has hood sensor and trunk sensor with remote start and a switch to not let the car remote start if it is in gear. It was $300 for the install and about $175 for the refurb alarm. If I were you I would install a kill switch as well and pull the fuel pump fuse, thats what I do when I park somewhere I am sketched about.

Make sure you get a good installer and some weekend warrior shop.

Yeah that's actually where I went, I think it came out to around $600 with the tilt and motion sensors along with a pager system but not hidden. When I asked if they do hide them, guy said yeah, above the pedals..

I've never had to get an alarm installed, didn't think all these extra features would cost so much, sensed the shop was just trying to get me, so I left. I figured they'd install a backup battery and hide it as well for over $600. It'd be nice if they could install a hidden kill switch, but they didn't seem very reassuring. I really don't want to come off as bashing them, they have a great review, are professional, and I would still go to them, just don't want to feel like I'm being ripped off. I'm going to try shopping around in the Stockton area too.

The extra sensors are not that expensive. What year is your car?

It's a 92 318ic. I get my car back from paint in a few weeks, just trying to find a shop with a good rate in the mean time. One of my biggest fears is replacing the top just to have some piece of trash tear a nice hole in it. I think the only sensors I need are tilt for the wheels and motion for anyone who does get an arm in. I'd also love it if I can use the remote to open and lock the doors, maybe even windows. I can feel my key locks getting worn out.
