Not all e30's came with central locks

I recently bought a 318is. The last owner said the central locks don't work. I pulled the speaker to test the CLCU and it's not there. Neither is the harness or plug that plugs into it. Everything I've read says central locking was a standard feature. I checked the kick panel in my Spec E30 which still has the central locking and found the CLCU where it should be.

    What am I missing?

The key will only turn 45 degrees in both doors and the trunk doesn't do anything except lock and unlock the trunk. I pulled back the carpet and couldn't find an actuator or any wires. I pulled the driver's door panel. There is an actuator but it doesn't look like any of the actuators I pulled out of my Spec E30, but it does have a couple wires going to it. It also has a few with 3 separate connectors that aren't connected to anything. At some point someone had installed an aftermarket alarm but it's inactive. Any ideas?

Is it a euro spec model or US?

It is a US spec model, however, I found that not all US spec e30's came with central locks. It was possible to order one from Germany specifically without them installed. Why someone would go out of there way to do it makes no sense to me.

You can look up your cars build sheet and see if it was a deleted option. My 87 325E apparently had clear coat deleted even though it is now peeling.

somebody might have removed the whole system. seems likely because that aftermarket alarm probably fucked everything up and they didn't wanna figure it out so they just yanked the system instead

The build sheet is what finally alluded to the factory delete. I'd assumed it was pulled by a previous owner. It didn't show up on any of the vin checks online, only one that a friends shop inquired of.
