Antenna mast tip, chrome or black was original on 87 325i vert?

Just like the title states. What was the original tip that came on an 87 325i convertible, was it the mast that has the black tip or the mast that has the chrome tip?

I'll have to check but I think my 87 had chrome and my 89 has black. Correct me if I have it wrong R3V

The mast was chrome to match the chrome bezel and lock nut. Since they are NLA most people just upgrade to a grommet which goes better with a black mast. This swap, requires that you change the threaded top section of the mast where iit sits against the underside of the qtr panel.

For the bezel there's a matching angle flange and the grommet mate has a black plastic ball that snaps in the the grommet.

I just replaced my mast and only had a black one to go with my chrome bezel and the black bezel I have is off an e24 so is the wrong angle. 's going to annoy me til I get a grommet or a chrome mast

On verts, the chrome bezel and top nut may have been as late as 87, but all sedans had gone to the rubber mount and a threadless antenna mount by 87. All masts, regardless of model or year were chrome.
