I changed my mind, I'm only doing 2 ways front and rear. Price and mounting the mid were my biggest hurdles, and I'll probably only have this car for 2 years before I destroy it with neglect. Parts are paid for and on their way!

After I put together my system I'll put the rest in the for sale thread.

PM me if you want to sell a pair of the 4 ohm e34 premium mids. Maybe a pair of tweeters as well.

Ok, I'm waiting on parts, and when I get some time I'll dust these all off and put a set aside for you. I bought e30 tweeters and will be popping those drivers out and putting the e34 in so I'll have those for sale.

        Pm sent

          I miscounted, I'll only have 1 e34 tweeter, 3 e34 2" mids, 3 e34 midbass and 1 e34 dvc midbass.

I've been tweaking out a little bit with these speakers and I noticed some differences.

Blue sticker Nokia have smaller dust cap, it looks like a smaller diameter cone where it meets the spider and has vent holes. The cone also has a taper from surround to cap while the white are just straight.

White sticker have larger dust cap, larger iron plate between basket and magnet and when I was testing in open air they seemed to have more Xmax than the blue.

            I'd guess about 5mm larger

            Also about 5mm larger.

This is in the blue sticker. Where cone meets spider it looks smaller than white sticker.

Does this mean the white one has a larger voice coil? And how does that affect performance? Those holes in the Nokia one might be nice for cooling, but wouldn't that introduce dirt into the voice coil space?
I haven't done any scientific testing to know if the voice coil size or Xmax is different, just eyeballed it. Which one do you think would be better and why?

My rear deck already has one e34 and one e34 DVC, so all together I have a whole mess of e34 with (i think) large and small voice coils, and 2 e34 DVC. Would it be better to run the DVC ones in front? The DVC drivers look like regular paper, not treated like the others. I listen with the fader biased forward and I'll also be using stock e30 premium tweeters in front since I broke one trying to swap it out I'm not going to mess with them.

I can't find any solid info on E34 speakers.

What years are early vs late E34?

Which years did the E34 come with silk dome tweeters?

              Thanks!

Oh, and here's my other thread with way more pics and stuff. It's page 7, or half way through 5 in tapatalk.
