    Mirroring a smartphone

Does anyone know if it is possible to mirror a smartphone to a rear view mirror that has a monitor built in? I would like to use my GPS in a set up like that and avoid paying the high price for a replacement mirror with built in GPS. Don't want to go the clip on route as I drive a vert and there is the security issue. I haven't seen any mirror/monitors with an hdmi connection that would enable this.

if you had one with an HDMI input you could use a chromecast.

I have looked for one with hdmi input but have found none. I was wondering if there was some other way. I have seen hdmi to a/v converters but then it starts to get bulky and cumbersome with boxes and wires. Was wondering if someone else had discovered a way. If I go the converter route, I could always take out my check panel and mount the converter there and install a better light in my cabrio. Just looking for some options.

              For example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-SAMSUNG-...29431981&rt=nc

Would fit in a panel above the ashtray, like my old one (Pioneer AVIC-F500BT):

Takes some skills, but could be done. Not exactly theft inducing, IMO, because it is way stealthier than that pic shows.
