    All 4 windows?

My buddy has an E30 vert. All 4 windows are non-op. He says he has already checked the fuses and center console breaker switch. I'm going over later today to help him troubleshoot.

Anybody got any ideas. Thanks in advance for your advice. Cheers!

make sure he has not pressed in the shut off switch that prevents the windows from operating. Why they have it in a 2 door escapes me but it is in there. It is usually above the passenger side front window switch. If you need a pic, I can post one later this evening.

it's a safety breaker. the windows have enough torque to chop your fingers off. the breaker is supposed to pop in case something gets caught in the window.

I would check out the starter wires. There are 2 smaller wires that connect to the starter. One is black/yellow, this is the start wire. The other I believe is violet???..but this wire controls the unloader relays. This shuts off power to windows, radio, heated seats, etc. when starting the car so all battery power goes to the starter. It sounds like this may be the problem. I would also check the unloader relays themselves. I think they are the k5 and k7 relays in the fuse box.

Thanks for the feed back. It was the safety switch located on th e center console. The switch is protected from the heat of an automatic tranny by foam padding. This padding is located below the switch and above the tranny. If that padding is missing, heat rising from the auto tranny can cause failure of the safety switch and the window switches.

In this case the switch was fried. We replaced the switch and the windows worked properly. Thanks for the input.
