    How much can a stock m42 alternator handle?

    Hey guys, I've got a 91 318is with the stock alternator. I've got a planet audio 5 channel amp installed. I've been thinking about upgrading to an electric fan (16" puller). Can the stock alternator handle this? I've heard some people upgrading to optima yellow top batteries as well. What would I need to do if I upgrade to an E fan?

      Stock alternator and battery will be fine.

          yea no need to upgrade. stock alternator is a 90amp i believe. more than enough to run tons of stuff. I run e fan and 4 gauges for engine info and HID lighting never had any issues
