318 325 ecu interchangeability

91 BMW 318i 318is E30 ENGINE COMPUTER ECU ECM ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT 0-261-200-175

listed as for a 318 was wondering if its ok to go for a 325i as well ?

will it work on a 325 ?

i need it for a e to i head swap

Nope. The M42 engines used Motronic 1.7 and an 88 pin connector. The M20 models used Motronic 1.1 and 1.3, which were 35 pin and 55 pin plugs. Aside from that, the M42 has 4 ignition coils and the M20 has one so it would never work anyway.
