Why not pull all the OBC/DIC/OE ECU and go MS w/ Speed density tuning? Save yourself an assload of hassle now and later!

I AM pulling my OBC and ECU for something special.

18 circuit kit is what we need if you want to retain power windows and other such niceities(yah i made that word up). I'm trying to strip this down to 8 circuits and keep my locks and windows and wiper so let me know if you have any ideas.

I might just make my own damn harness after sorting through all the prices. I forgot how much these damn things were complete.

Ugh, this thread has caused me to look into 100% custom wiring again. Like, starting with a plan, drawing up schematics, and starting to buy wire and a fusebox =X The one thing I don't like about the painless kits are how the fusebox looks, I prefer in particular the Bussman RTA 15710 series block http://www.bussauto.com/pdf/rta.pdf . The horror. Painless could be so much easier!

Oh I might need to convince myself of that though. :drink: I really do like the idea of having my own creation though.

Edit - Hey, if you're going to make your own harness (too?), Bussman makes some pretty sick lookin fuseboxes IMO. There's that one, and another that uses the mini blade fuses and looks rather similar. Waytek wire sells them, probably where I'll buy all of my wire supplies. TONS of stock there, and priced well, though it will still be rather expensive though maybe not quite as much. www.waytekwire.com

Thanks for the headsup Justin B. Those fuse boxes are the jam.

Any EE's wanna help draw us up a diagram so maybe we ALL can build a DIY kit thats cheaper then the painless?

Yeah for sure. I think we'll need some assistance in this task as well, especially considering it wont be for the same exact car. The circuits could be roughly similar and the idea/theory behind how they are ran the same. If nobody steps up to help, or even if they do, I'm sure it would take quite a lot of 'net browsing for typical wiring solutions I guess. Do you have AIM or something of that sort? Since we're both into the same idea of what to do, perhaps it would be beneficial to push eachother to get shit done. I dunno. I'll be writing up a list of functions I want in my 02 tonight, I hope.

I think we should be able to come up with a few different combinations that will work for all cars - one for convertibles, one for coupes - you can remove or add what applies to your car, etc. Kind of like the THR m50 harnesses...

In any case, let's keep this moving along...

Dr. Gustave is building a Mil-Spec harness as we speak.
