Replaced Motometer cluster gears, but still no odometer! What gives?

    Hi guys,

I pulled one motometer cluster out and verified it had bad odometer gears. I had a spare motometer cluster with good gears and threw that in, but still no odometer registering. I thought hmm, maybe there is another odometer issue with this one too, so I bought the Garagistic Odo gears and swapped them in to my original cluster. Everything appeared to be working mechanically, so I swapped in the old cluster.

Everything works, but the odometer and trip meter! What can cause this? Is there a way I can test the electrical system?

This is breaking my balls and testing my patience. I've burned cars to the ground for smaller issues than this.

SI board has nothing to do with the odometer.

If your speedometer needle works, and your odometer does not, most likely cause of your failing odometer is poor installation of replacement gears or failed odometer motor or drive electronics. VDO brand is particularly common to see failed electronics.

If both your speedometer and odometer failed, the problem is either fusing or the connection at the rear differential speed sending unit.
