What Head Unit in 1986 325E?

I bought a nice low mileage California rust free 1986 325e that didn't come with a radio and I would like to put it back to stock.


Has fader wheel and non premium speakers on the rear parcel shelf.


I basically listen to the news on my commute to work so stock sound works for me. I do not need Bluetooth or any aux input. Factory originality is what I am looking for.


What model/s should I be looking for that work with the fader and non premium speakers?

This was available 86-88 or so. I had one in my 87 325eS stock with premium sound.

There's two models of this unit perhaps one is non premium.

This one is the early Alpine, non premium. This was only available 84-85 when premium sound didn't exist but it may have come on your car if your 86 had an early production date.

I thought the fader only came with premium sound?

That second radio looks pretty cool. I like the old school look of the LCD panel

I say the car has the non premium sound as the speakers on the rear parcel shelf are round not rectangular like those in my 1989 ix.

The build date is April 86

I have that same exact Alpine that came out of a 325e parts car I just bought that was built in March 1985. My only concern with it is that the cassette is stuck inside the deck and the fact that the car sat under a barn for several years and I bet a lot of moisture made its way inside.

Now I need additional help... I slid it in the slot and now I can't get it out. Do I need special tools/shims to slide in these two slots on each side of the radio so I can remove it?

These are the rear speakers. The 85 donor 325e had carpeted kick panels with round speaker grills vs these plastic style covers.
