    Front door tweeters retrofit

Has anyone replaced the tweeter in this triangle shaped cover? Is it worth doing? Also is there an easy way to refresh the cover mount clip and pins? Most of mine are broken. Thanks

You can epoxy a new tweeter in there, but it's tough to repair the mounting point clips. maybe epoxy there too, but they are quite fragile

See here for some ideas. Tweeter related mods are spread throughout since this was sort of a project-log.

You can pop out the old ones, make sure your new tweeters fit before doing so. TBH, my old teeeters sounded great before they were damaged by a stereo shop. They gave me JL Tweeters as a replacement, and they sound a bit washy, even after adjusting the eq

I replaced mine with alpine type r's. The hardest part is digging the old worthless tweeter out. It took at least an hour each. I switched to a dremel, and that does speed up things, but also is dangerous - as you can mess it up.

The clips are still available new and fairly cheap. If the plastic part on the back is broken, as it is on my drivers side, you can super glued a small strong magnet to the very top inside of the tweeter panel. You set the bottom in like normal and the top just sticks to the door. You have to sand the magnet and rough it up a bit for it to stick, ask me how I know. But it's been a couple years now like that and still strong.

You can hot glue the new tweeters to hold them in place. I just put some .75 inch silk dome tweeters from JL audio in and they actually press fit right into the holes where I cut my stock tweets out. It was perfect, I didn't have to do anything but press them in.
