Anyone have the OEM radio removal tool?

I have to remove my radio and take out my HVAC panel, so I can swap it out with my new one, and pull the OBC, and I can't do it without the radio removal tool. If someone has one that I could borrow, I would greatly appreciate it. I'll pull the radio the day I get it, and drop it back in the mail the next day. Of if someone has a spare one they could fork over, I'd pay a few bucks for it. Please let me know!

I just used an allen key. worked fine. I want to say it was a 3mm?

You can use a small allen wrench and get it out just as well, in my experience.

Really? Maybe I'll just go buy one. It would be nice to have.

It is a 3mm allen key I think. Go that route, you'll save a ton.

It's just an 8-point torx screw, isn't it? I bet I could probably find something that will work better than an allen. But I'll try that.

I could always just put some different screws in there, couldn't I?

Allen works just fine, I've took out a couple and it seem like every e30 I buy has a little allen wrench in it somewhere (that someone used at somepoint to take out the radio)

If the tool is only $8 bucks, I'd just get it. I removed mine from the dash years ago with an allen wrench, and it worked, but it got a bunch of gold shavings on the center console, it was annoying. Plus, I don't know if it strips the radio's "screws" or not--it sounds like it doesn't, but I never put my stock radio back in, so I don't know.

You need a pentagon shaped tool (I.E. - 5 sides).

Josh, I would just get the correct tool from the dealer. Like you said, good to have. And if it's cheap, why not? Then you won't strip them out.
