When I build, I use 3/4" MDF, a quality wood glue carefully spread for best adhesion, and I use a 1/4" crown air stapler, with staples that are 1.5" length. Generally, the boxes I build cannot be broken at the joint, even using a sledgehammer.

As far as weight, my setup is pretty big. I am using 2 600 watt Exile amps, a 2 channel and a 4 channel. I would say the total weight is about 80 pounds, maybe a bit more. But, I am looking for some damn big sound...ask the guys at the Picnic!

I am doing a thin Exile XTEC 10" (single 4 ohm) in my GF's '89, ported through the ski boot hole. I am not too sure how things are gonna turn out, but she needs her trunk space...and I intend to integrate a strut bar into the design.

    Here are the design goals:
Useable output to below 25Hz, over 125db
Less than 8" depth (measured from the bottom of the trunk)
    100% sealed into the cabin
Less than 55 pounds, being the same weight as the trunk tar

Custom fabricated strut bar will be through a tube running inside the box...not quite sure how I am gonna do a strut bar in the same space as the woofer...but I am pretty stubborn about the whole thing.

Sorry for dumping this all over your thread. Seriously jacked up on coffee this morning!
