    Speaker suggestions

I need some ideas for front speakers, only want to spend $100-$150.
It has to sound clean at moderate volume, but I want to go loud. I was looking at some MB quart Discus series speakers but everyone says the crossover just cuts out the tweeter (for protection) at loud volumes. I want speakers that I can just ghetto-blast as loud as I want.

Will probably recieve ~100 watts RMS.

You like the highs or the mids ?

Infinity Reference Components have good tweeter and handle good power.
Good sound for a set in the ~$100-$150 range. Also have a good sensitivity rating so it has good output at low volume.

The M.B. Quarts are even more tweetery than the Infinity's since the Infinity's are soft dome.
The MB's sound more mid-punchy when you raise the volume though. Probably because of the crossovers like you mentioned.

If you're just going to "ghetto-blast" them, why not buy two pairs of cheaper speakers that you can just replace after you blow them?

You can get them for $20 less on eBay.

Seriously... if you're just going to 'ghetto blast' your speakers, then why not get some Infinity Reference? Or some Pioneer 3-way coaxes for $50 each?

Actually, now that I tihnk about it, shipping to the Hawaii may be a little extra.

Plus if he is throwing 100w at these, they wont take it very well.

From where? My cheapest site has them at $174.90
And if I was going to get those, I might as well get the 130V2's since they have an adjustable midrange and the mid is a bit more powerful

I'm out of ideas for wal-mart speakers, they won't last me and my friends more than a week or 2 :P

You can get the 130As on eBay for less than a hundred bucks per pair. But seriously, don't get Focals. They aren't made to be bombarded with power and blared. Unless you have a nice amp and nice signal cables and such you probably won't be able to tell the difference between a Focal and a Infinity Reference.

I have Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.5" components in the front. They are running on a 75wx2 amp. CLEAN at low levels, CLEAN at stupid-I-never-actually-listen-this-loud levels, and they look good. Just trying to get my mid-bass to have a lil more pop, gotta tweak my EQ on the deck. $200-ish on eBay... worth every penny in my opinion, but with speakers, its like food n stuff, it's subjective.

                      kthx.

That looks awesome! How did you get the 6.5s to install in front?

If you put them on the outside of the plastic kickpanel cover, they'll fit just fine. However, the ability to open your glovebox all the way is lost.

yeah, I need to mount the hood release lever spaced OUT a little bit on the driver's side, along with maybe trimming the hush panel also... the one on the bottom under the knee panel. the glove box needs to be trimmed also, in a invisible spot, so it can clear the speaker frame. minor concers, no worries.

Your right. So the speaker is mounted to the kickpanel?

This may just be me, but wouldn't it sound better (bass wise) if it was mounted to something a little more secure? The kickpanel is pretty sturdy, but not nearly as much as the sheet metal.
