    Hey Boomers...Roof flex?

Hey guys, my roof flexes about 2" when I crank up the stereo in the E30.

Anyone here ever brace the roof of an E30? I gotta do something.

    Any ideas?

    Luke

      2" !?!?!?!?

Wait - are you measuring that with my dick ruler?

I hate to fess up, but it's 1/8th scale. It's how I feed my ego.

      Seriously, that's some crazy flex.

        Roll cage!! LoL.

Could you try some sheetmetal channel welded to the roof it a big X? I haven't looked at a bare E30 room from the inside, so i'm just throwing that out there.

Oh yeah - I remember you had some good stuff going on. I'm a 12v idiot, but I've seen 3/8" sheetmetal pounding, and that was crazy to me.

You must have some hearing damage going, bud. Fun way to do it, but all the same.

Tech nine. Yea, that makes everything shake for me too. I haven't looked to see if the roof is flexing when the beats are up. I'll have to check.

weld the sunroof, make an inner roof out of sheet metal, fill the area with expanding foam, or cement, and be done with it!

                      :)

Or set your gains so you dont have to get 9" speakers up front for your sub to blend with your midbass :) (if 9" would even actually solve the problem)

Not much you can do since you have a sunroof.

Yeah, I think I am just gonna have to live with it.

I am planning on making a new headliner by fiberglassing the outside of my parts car and cutting it to fit, then upholstering it using GM style padded cloth. I think Iwill try and dynamat the hell out of it and see if that helps.

I am also gonna mold a real domelight in and lose those silly stock ones...us old bastids need to see!

you should post a vid up of that...

2" seems like a LOT of movement to me. Is it cracking the paint?
