Figure about 1" either way, in or out. Not 2" out, 2" total.

Reading the post, I think I should have pointed that out better...sorry guys.

It only happens right at the rear edge of the sunroof, heavy nasty ass rap music only.

The damn noise bugs the hell out of me!

lol ok well that makes a little more sense. Still crazy though. But I'm not into the big time car audio like you so I've never seen something like that ;)

I've installed a few systems in my cars and friends but I'm sure its a hack job compared to your work.

Damn Luke! I heard your stereo pounding but I had no idea it moved the roof nearly that much. I gotta see what you're talking about next time I'm up there if you haven't fixed it yet before then. Oh, and your ears still work? :P

In my Toyota I'm running a Resonant Engineering XXX 15, roof flex ftl :( If you figure out a solution, let us know! Its the only thing that not deadened!

I'd try replacing the seal around the sunroof first, maybe yours is too old. I have 2 12' in the trunk with 2 1000 amps and I don't seem to have that problem., but then again I've never bother to look at the sunroof while my sounds are blasting...

On the Suburban that we are slowly building, we will be running 15,000 watts of Earthquake on 6 memphis Mojo 15's, in 30 cubic feet. The math says 168db @30Hz...dunno 'bout all of that, but whatever. We pulled the headliner, spotwelded the roof braces to the sheetmetal, squirted urethane windshield adhesive in each rib and then did 2 layers of Dynamat Extreme.

The damn roof still moves a good 2 inches each way. We are only running 2 of his subs and one of the 3 amps... Stripper pole between the first and second rows of seats, plus some additional metal bracing to come before we even build the real sub box.

My sunroof seal is just fine. It is the area directly behind the sunroof that flexes, only now the 3rd brakelight has started slapping the window.

I switched my car over to late model rear deck/3rd brakelight setup.

So, like not trying to be a dick, but I would bet I still make more SPL than you using only 1) 12 and 600 watts RMS on it, plus I am pretty sure you are not hitting anywhere near as low as mine...or you would have roof flex too!

The box really is everything, and mine is pretty far out there. 100% of my bass energy comes into the cabin, and the trunk wall is braced using MDF screwed to metal, with Dynamat Extreme sandwiched in between.

This is a pretty extreme build. The fucking thing hits like a ton of bricks.

Holy shit man, thats the main reason I don't want to move up to using an IE 40.1 and 2 RE 15MT's .... Thats sooooo much effort to stop roof flex. I wish you luck on the bimmer, that a lot less sound pressure your pushing, should be a simpler fix
