Ok, unplug the one that goes to the sensor wrapped around the sparkplug, and make sure the one that goes to the sensor on the balancer is plugged in.

At the DME, between pins 47 and 48, you should have roughly 540 ohms. No good? Try pins 8 and 31. If you have 540 ohms there, your plugs were switched, but that might not have been the whole problem. If you are getting some whacked out resistance or open at both sensors, unplug the crank position sensor and check resistance between terminals 1 and 2. a yellow and black wire. if you have an open there, toss the sensor in the bin. What's the gap look like from the sensor to the toothed wheel? Should only be .040 in

I'll verify that the plugs are in the right position and have proper output, but it'll have to wait for Monday.

We need to get this car out of here...race season is coming up and we've got quite a few cars on order already.

Make sure you have not mixed the crank position sensor connector to the distributor one vice versa? Same connector type, same locations underneath the diagnostic port, easy to get mixed up and would result in no spark?

just figure I throw that out there....

The wires are in the proper position.

We're waiting on a new crank sensor and the tech from BMW is coming in,
I'm confident it will be ready for race time.

Glad to hear, good luck with getting it going.

Well they gave us a reference sensor for a 1985 325e instead of a CPS for a 1989 325i, despite the fact that I specifically HEARD the mechanic order the proper part. So it'll be another two days before anything actually gets done!
