    Do not trigger the motor wires: they rest on ground, and one (or the other) pulses positive when activated...so if you put +12V to one, it would pop the fuse on either the unit or the lock system, or just fry the unit.

        Generally, the BMW lock system uses about 1.2A to run the relays. Most alarms will make about 500mA, or .5A...so they will sometimes run the locks for a while, but eventually crap out.

        Using 2 relays to do the lock/unlock function will generally solve the longevity issue, as relays generally operate just fine on 300mA, so the alarm is not being stressed.

        I would love to know why the BMW relays need so much power, but I just deal with it.

          Hmm. I had better add some relays then!

          I still want to know whose bright idea it was to have that stupid door handle switch for the domelight timer. Most e30 owners (until george graves came along anyway) didn't know they even had that feature because it usually has long since died.
