The way the entire piece is shaped, it's all curved... With 2-3 layers of fiberglass on it, I would be confident in using them as jackstands :P
6.5in Kickpanel pods finished.

Shoot a price out there...he said 10 hours, so figure like 25/hr plus materials...$300?
I wouldn't build them for that in my shop, so I would say it is a good deal.
They look way better in person too.

thats impressive. First box my friend and i made was for two twelves. It had about 7 layers of fiberglass with the chopped mat already mixed in. That resin is the best stuff to use for those. The glass we used was still flexible after 3 coats, but it is rock solid now, granted its a 1/4 inch think. We covered it in that vinyl too.. good stuff, and looks much better than painting it.Originally posted by JordanThe green stuff is fleece. It is much easier to stretch to odd shapes then fiberglass cloth.
To make it hard, just brush on fiberglass resin until it is fully saturated. I did 1 coat inside, and 2 coats outside. end result is pretty strong.
I stood on one of the pods, and I'm just shy of 220lbs. Pod was not harmed. I dont think anyone kicking it is going to hurt it in the least.Old and improved:

I could never have a pod like that. My size 13 feet barely clear each pedal, and I need a dead pedal. I prefer to sacrifice audio quality than legroom. E30's weren't made for people with long legs.Comment

Ahh. I thought you meant why do I have pods. I don't have pods, but I do have two E30's. And how does adjusting the seat have ANYTHING to do with side to side foot motion? Either way, dead pedal is a must. Try to drive 500km on the highway straight without having your foot on the dead pedal. It's possible, but uncomfortable.Comment

I drove from FL to TX in my last car (with kicks) and had no prob. You just get use to it I guess. You can always just rest your foot on the floor, when cruising along at a sustained speed.Comment
